Faction Skis Candide 3.0 Skis
Widely recognised for his top-to-bottom helmet-cam escapades in his home resort of La Clusaz, you‰۪d be forgiven for thinking Candide Thovex was a new name in freeskiing. For those in the know however, Candide is somewhat of a stalwart in the community and has been responsible for influencing and innovating freeskiing for two decades.
In 2013 Candide joined forces with Faction and began designing a quiver of skis, each of which shaped and built for a particular terrain. The Candide 3.0 focusses on making use of the entire mountain. It‰۪s design and shape means it confidently handles powder to piste and everything in between, making it a great choice for skiers who spend their time jumping between tree-lines, groomers and sidecountry booters. The rocker in the nose and tail not only reduces the chance of catching your edges but also provides lift in powder and helps with butters and presses, while camber underfoot provides great edge hold and stability through the turn. Slightly stiffer than mid-flex, it‰۪s a great choice for intermediate and advanced skiers who want a ski which is powerful and obedient but doesn‰۪t sacrifice forgiveness on powder landings or flex for powder nose butters.
Built using sandwich construction, a method of layering the core materials, which increases the strength, edge-hold and life of the skis.
The core is comprised of balsa, an exceptionally light hardwood, which is then laminated together with strips of woven flax. This reduces the amount of torsional flex in the ski and increase pop in the nose and tail.
Complimented with a rubber dampening layer which is used to bond the base to the core while simultaneously working to absorb any vibration.
The die-cut base utilises sintered 4000 P-Tex, a highly porous material with high top speed and great durability.
Titanal plates underfoot ensure that the binding screws are fully locked into the core. This drastically reduces the chances of a pull-out in the event of a heavy fall or landing.
Topped off with a matte topsheet which features Microcap protection, a chip resistant construction that joins the sidewall for increased durability.
What we say: ‰ÛÏArguably the most versatile of the Candide family, the Faction CT 3.0 merges freestyle performance with a lightweight construction and all-mountain shape. As comfortable threading lines through the trees as it is going waist deep in slack-country or charging freshly groomed piste the CT 3.0 is your ticket to all-mountain domination.‰
